No. It doesn’t matter which institution you bank with. Mint’s portable payment processing software works with most banks and financial institutions that issue merchant accounts.
Absolutely! This is one of Mint’s most popular management features. You can access your entire Administration System any time while you’re on the road by simply accessing the Mint website through Internet Explorer. Just have your User ID and Password handy then log onto the website to access this secure feature.
Yes, you can process refunds up to the value of the original transaction. Also, you can view and reprint receipts for your last 20 transactions on your mobile device.
Mint does not currently have Store and Forward functions so this means, if there’s no mobile coverage, you can’t enter the transactions. The reason for this is that it improves the transaction security and reduces credit card fraud. Some of our Mint users take the customers’ details down and enter them later when there is coverage. Additionally, you can use the online Mint Administration System to process a payment.

Mint has several safeguards against fraud. Firstly, it produces the credit card number encoded on the magnetic stripe on the screen before signing. This means you can check that the card being used has the same account number as what’s recorded on the magnetic strip. Mint also has automatic velocity checks to ensure the same credit card is not used twice, this guards against fraud by monitoring each transaction for higher-than-usual transaction rates within a given time frame.
Credit card skimming occurs when account information is read from the magnetic-stripe of a credit card, then stored or sent to a server where it can be duplicated thousands of times almost instantly. To protect against this kind of activity Mint features Secure-Swipe Technology that encrypts all sensitive information before it’s sent for verification and processing.

If your customer’s credit card is declined there will be a Mint transaction fee, unfortunately, as we incur a charge in presenting that transaction to the financial institution.
No. You buy your Mint transaction credits in advance, and they are valid until you use them up. You get 20 free transactions with Mint when you buy it and there is an automatic top-up when you only have 15 transactions left. You will receive reminders letting you know that you are running low.
Yes, there’s no reason why you couldn’t but bear in mind that your customer will be charged in Australian dollars – so make sure they know that.
Transaction fees only apply to credit card transactions. Currently, fees do not apply to receipt-based cash or cheque based transactions.
These fees enable Mint to provide you with full data storage and retrieval for integration into your accounting software, saving you hours of time. If you consider this fee, for the security and peace of mind, it is approximately the price of a telephone call and stamp. A cost you would otherwise incur when invoicing customers.
No, at this stage Mint only offers a pre-paid top-up option where you authorise use of your credit card when your plan reaches the top up threshold of transactions.
Mint lets you process most types of payment: credit cards, cheque, cash, non-PIN based debit cards (e.g. VISA debit) and ‘On Account’ payments.
